Who needs a mentorship and why?
When I decided to rewrite and edit An Onslaught of Light, I worked closely with a mentor who supported me to change the structure of the novel, deepen characters, and to look at how pacing affected all of it.

An Onslaught of Light is my first novel published next year, but it's not the only one I've written with the help of a mentor. I've used mentors for another novel on which I hope to share some news in the near future.

A mentorship can be a valuable process to sharpen, polish, add depth to your manuscript. It's a good idea to work with a mentor if you're experiencing any of the following:

- you've gone as far as you can with your manuscript. You know it's not quite ready to submit to agents/publishers, but you're unsure how to "fix" it.

- you have a draft and you're unsure of what to do next. Should you focus on plot? Characters? Settings?

- you have plot outlines, character outlines, but something isn't coming together when you try and write the story.

- you have it all, but pacing seems to be a problem and you don't know how to change it.

- Or perhaps it's none of the things I've mentioned - so contact me for a chat.
How does it work?
Contact me via email and we'll set up a time to discuss your project. I can also give you an indication of my availability and pricing.
If we decide to work together, in our first session we'll agree achievable writing goals that will address your manuscript needs. We can also agree how you want to use the allocated time each fortnight (e.g. you might decide that you prefer me to read a section of your manuscript instead of a check-in.)
I offer 3 and 6 month mentorships that include fortnightly check-ins via phone or Zoom to keep you on track. Mentorships are tailored to suit your time and life commitments and your manuscript needs as much as possible.
